Writing a News Story

My news story is over the girl's basketball past and upcoming season:

As the weather starts getting colder and sun goes down early this means high school basketball season is beginning. After the devastating lost to Shawnee mission northwest last year in sub-state the girls are determined to come out strong for the next season. Raven lady’s basketball has been putting time into basketball during and out of season too. From summer league in June and conditioning in the fall they have prepared long and hard for this upcoming season.

Since the lost of 4 seniors last season the players have to step up and take over those important jobs that we have lost. Finding new ways to improve steals, offensive rebounds and energy in very critical to the upcoming team since there is a lack of height. The most important aspect is the strong team chemistry the girls have built over the love for the game.

After kicking off their season with a win against Pleasant Hill they advance on to play against Desoto High School in the 2018 Huhtamaki Hardwood Classic. The game will be held on Thursday, 6th at 8:00 pm at Desoto High School to see who gets to advance to the championship. Overall the players and staff are excited to be back on the court and hope to see you there.

Questions after:

 1. When writing this news story I wanted to do a current topic and since basketball season is just beginning, I knew it was a perfect opportunity.

2. The reasons I like to write news stories is the opportunity to let the viewers decide on what view on the story and not being bias.

3. Next time I want to embed quotes into my writing to make the story a stronger piece.

4. I like the length and my story and how I included past season and upcoming season.

5. That the voice overs are very critical to the video because it helps move the story along.
