Watercolor

Overview

Before the printing process we learned 3 different type. The different types are relief, lithography and intaglio. For the printing process we first picked a project that we created and photoshopped one into color and  one into black and white. Than after we printed them off the computer and mod podge it onto a the water color paper. Than we scraped the paper off to transfer the ink.

Process

We first created the background for the image by painting with water colors. After deciding what project we wanted to print, we had to leave a boarder around the image. Than we applied a thick layer of mod podge onto to the ink. Mod podge is a white glue substance that allows ink to transfer into the print. Than we used a squeegee to get rid of all the air bubbles when placing the ink down onto the background.

Result

Once letting the mod podge dry overnight we started to scrape the paper off. To do this you would start at the corner of the paper with damp fingers and began scraping the paper. It was important not to get mod podge on the back of paper because when scraping it wouldn't come off. When scrapping you had to be very careful to not scrap off the ink because it would ruin the image. For the end result it was a smooth surface with a clear printed image.
